Dental Implants in Dubai for UK Patients

Implants are rarely a one-trip treatment, and it is better to know that before you book. This page explains how UK patients plan implant care at Manhal Medical Center in Dubai.

Dental Implants in Dubai for UK Patients

Why implants usually mean two trips

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone, which needs time to bond with the bone before the final crown is fitted. That healing period is commonly around three to six months. For UK patients this normally means one trip for assessment and implant placement, and a second trip for the impression and final crown. Some full-arch cases receive fixed temporary teeth on the first trip. Treat any offer of finished implants in one short visit with caution.

Planning from a 3D scan

Implant planning relies on a CBCT scan, which shows bone height, width and nearby structures such as nerves and sinuses. If you have had a CBCT in the UK, ask the practice to send the full DICOM files rather than a screenshot; otherwise the scan can be taken at Manhal Medical Center on your first day. Dr. Manhal Helfawee focuses on implant and full-arch dentistry, and cases needing bone grafting or sinus lifts may involve Dr. Moataz Al-Khan, Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Trip one: placement

Allow around five to seven days for the first trip. The examination and scan come first, then the placement appointment, then a review before you fly. Swelling and bruising usually peak around the second or third day, so avoid booking a flight for the day after surgery. If a sinus lift or larger graft is planned, your surgeon may advise a longer gap before flying because of cabin pressure changes. Soft food and rest are part of the plan, so keep your itinerary light.

Trip two: the final crown

After healing you return so the implant can be checked, a digital scan or impression taken and the crown or bridge made. This usually takes about a week, depending on the laboratory and the number of teeth. Many UK patients time the second trip for the cooler months between October and April. If your circumstances change during healing, tell the clinic early: timing is flexible within limits, and an implant can usually wait longer for its crown if it needs to.

Your implant record for UK dentists

Implants need lifelong maintenance, and your UK dentist will need to know exactly what was placed. Before you leave, Manhal Medical Center provides a summary with the implant system, sizes, component details and X-rays. Keep it with your health records. NHS dentistry generally does not provide new implants except in specific cases, but any dentist can examine your gums, clean around implants and take X-rays. If a crown loosens, the component details help a local clinician to assist.

Health, smoking and medicines

Tell the clinic about diabetes, osteoporosis treatment, blood thinners or any recent surgery when you send your records. Smoking slows healing and increases the risk of implant problems, so stopping before treatment is strongly advised. Bring a written list of your medicines and doses. Not everyone is suitable for implants straight away; some patients need gum treatment or grafting first. A clear medical history lets the dentist tell you honestly whether the plan is realistic before you book any flights.

Are dental implants in Dubai safe?

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
