Veneers and Implants in Dubai for European Patients

Veneers and implants are the two treatments European patients ask about most. They differ greatly in time scale, so this page looks at them side by side.

Veneers and Implants in Dubai for European Patients

Veneers: one trip, carefully planned

Porcelain veneers can usually be completed in one trip of one to three weeks. The process starts with photographs, a digital scan and a design discussion, often with a mock-up so you can judge the shape before any preparation. Dr. Manhal Helfawee focuses on cosmetic restorative dentistry and will discuss whether veneers suit your teeth, or whether whitening, bonding or orthodontics would be less invasive. Allow some slack at the end of the trip for adjustments before you fly home.

Implants: two trips over several months

Implants are placed on the first trip and restored with a crown or bridge on a second trip, usually three to six months later, once the implant has bonded with the bone. The first trip typically takes five to seven days and the second about a week. Full-arch treatment such as All-on-4 may include fixed temporary teeth on the first trip. Cases requiring bone grafts or sinus lifts may involve Dr. Moataz Al-Khan, Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Planning from records you already have

European dentists frequently have recent panoramic X-rays or CBCT scans on file. Ask for digital copies, including the full DICOM files for any CBCT, and send them with photographs and your medical history. This allows a provisional plan that sets out the likely number of trips and days before you book. A provisional plan is not a diagnosis, and the final plan is confirmed only after examination in Dubai. Records can be sent by email or WhatsApp to +971 52 987 2411.

Combining veneers and implants

Some patients need both, for example implants to replace missing teeth and veneers to improve the front teeth. The order matters: implants are often placed first so that their final crowns and the veneers can be designed together, with matching shade and proportions. This usually means the veneers are completed on the second trip, once the implants have healed. The clinic explains the sequence for your particular case, so you can plan your travel around it.

Materials and compatibility in Europe

Your treatment summary lists the porcelain or ceramic materials and shades used for veneers and crowns, and the manufacturer, system and component details for implants. Many implant systems used in the UAE are also widely available in Europe, but it is worth asking which system is planned and checking with your dentist at home before treatment. Tooth numbering follows the FDI system familiar to European dentists, which keeps the records easy to read and act on.

Practical considerations

Dubai is two to three hours ahead of Central Europe and roughly five to seven and a half hours away by air from most European hubs. October to April is usually the most comfortable season, and Ramadan may change clinic hours. After implant surgery, wait as advised before flying, particularly after a sinus lift. Fees are not published; ask the clinic about costs and payment after your records are reviewed. The clinic does not arrange travel, transfers or accommodation.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
