Skin rejuvenation in Dubai — Manhal Medical Center, Dubai
Quick answer

IV drip therapy delivers fluids, vitamins and selected nutrients directly into a vein over about 30–60 minutes. At Manhal Medical Center in Al Safa 1, Dubai, every drip follows a health screen and medicine review, with blood tests where relevant, under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Anis, and is administered by Dr. Kavitha Ravichandran. Drips support wellness and hydration; they are not detox or cure treatments.

What an IV drip can and cannot do

People in Dubai book IV drips when they feel run down after travel, long working weeks or the summer heat, or when they want to support their skin before an event. A drip delivers fluids and nutrients straight into the bloodstream, so they are absorbed fully rather than through the gut. Many patients say they feel refreshed and better hydrated afterwards.

It is just as important to be clear about the limits. For most healthy people eating a balanced diet, there is limited evidence that vitamin drips add long-term health benefits beyond what food or oral supplements provide. Drips do not "detox" the body, which is the job of your liver and kidneys, and they do not cure illness, boost immunity on demand or replace treatment for a medical condition. A genuine deficiency, such as low vitamin B12, vitamin D or iron, should be confirmed with a blood test and treated properly.

At Manhal, drips are given as a medically supervised wellness and skin service. Dr. Abdullah Anis, Specialist Dermatologist with more than 25 years in practice, oversees the health screening and decides suitability. Your drip is administered by Dr. Kavitha Ravichandran, a DHA-licensed Medical Aesthetician and Aesthetic Laser Specialist with more than 17 years in aesthetic skin, hair and laser treatments, who stays with you while it runs.

The exact formulations available, and which suits you, are confirmed at your health screen.

Hydration drip

Fluids and electrolytes for people who feel dehydrated after heat, travel or illness that has settled.

Vitamin C drip

An antioxidant drip. High-dose vitamin C needs a G6PD blood test first and is avoided with some kidney conditions.

B-vitamin drip

B-complex and B12 for people who feel tired. A suspected deficiency is confirmed by blood test and treated properly.

Hydration with vitamins chosen to support skin, often timed around a facial plan.

Glutathione drips for skin lightening — an honest note

Glutathione is an antioxidant your body makes naturally, and glutathione drips are widely marketed in Dubai for whiter or brighter skin. Here is what you should know before paying for them:

  • The evidence is limited. Studies on glutathione and skin tone are small and short, and most looked at oral or topical forms rather than drips. Any lightening reported is usually modest and fades when treatment stops.
  • It is not an approved skin-lightening treatment. No one can promise a specific change in skin tone, and claims of dramatic whitening are not supported.
  • Safety matters. Rare reactions can occur, and long-term effects of repeated high doses are not well studied. It is avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Pigment problems have better treatments. Melasma, dark spots and uneven tone usually respond better to a dermatologist-led plan. See pigmentation and melasma treatment.

If you still wish to have glutathione as part of a wellness drip after hearing this, Dr. Anis will review whether it is suitable for you.

Your health screen and drip, step by step

  1. Health questionnaire: medical conditions, medicines, supplements, allergies, pregnancy and previous drips
  2. Review under Dr. Abdullah Anis's supervision; blood tests such as G6PD, kidney function or vitamin levels where relevant
  3. A written recommendation of the drip, its ingredients, how often and an itemised quote
  4. Blood pressure and pulse checked; a small cannula placed in a vein by Dr. Kavitha Ravichandran
  5. The drip runs over about 30–60 minutes while you rest and are monitored
  6. Cannula removed, site checked and aftercare advice given

Who should not have an IV drip, or needs checks first

  • Adults who feel well, have had a health screen and want hydration or vitamin support
  • People recovering from travel, heat or a minor illness that has settled
  • Patients on a skin or hair plan who want supportive vitamins, with realistic expectations

Not suitable, or only after medical review

  • Kidney disease, heart failure or conditions that need fluid restriction
  • G6PD deficiency or a history of kidney stones, for high-dose vitamin C
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure, or acute illness with fever, vomiting or chest pain, which needs a doctor or emergency care
  • Allergy to any ingredient, or certain medicines that interact
  • Under 18s

Side effects, aftercare and choosing an IV drip clinic in Dubai

Most people have no problems. Common effects are a cool feeling in the arm, a metallic taste with some vitamins, and a small bruise at the cannula site. Rarely, the vein can become inflamed or an allergic reaction can occur, which is why drips should only be given in a licensed clinic with trained staff present. Drink water, eat normally and contact us if the site becomes red, hot or painful.

How to choose an IV drip clinic

  • Is there a health screen and medicine review before the drip, every time you start a course?
  • Is a doctor responsible for deciding suitability and for blood tests where relevant?
  • Are the ingredients and doses written down for you?
  • Does the clinic avoid detox, cure or whitening promises?
  • Is it a DHA-licensed facility, with someone monitoring you throughout?

Questions patients ask

Patients visit us from Al Safa, Al Wasl, Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Quoz, City Walk, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai and Al Barsha — and from Sharjah and the wider UAE.

Do IV vitamin drips actually work?

Drips deliver fluids and vitamins fully into the bloodstream, and many people feel refreshed and better hydrated afterwards. For most healthy people with a balanced diet, though, evidence of long-term benefit beyond food or oral supplements is limited. Drips are most useful when they are part of a plan made after a health screen.

Does a glutathione drip lighten skin?

Evidence is limited. Small studies, mostly of oral or topical glutathione, report modest lightening that fades when treatment stops, and it is not an approved skin-lightening treatment. Melasma and dark spots usually respond better to dermatology treatment. Dr. Abdullah Anis will explain options honestly before you decide.

Do I need a blood test before an IV drip?

Not always, but sometimes it is essential. A G6PD test is needed before high-dose vitamin C, kidney function may be checked with certain conditions or ingredients, and vitamin levels are tested when a deficiency is suspected. The health screen decides which tests are relevant for you.

Is an IV drip safe?

For suitable adults screened beforehand, drips are generally well tolerated. Possible effects include bruising, a cool feeling in the arm, inflammation of the vein and, rarely, allergic reaction. People with kidney or heart conditions, G6PD deficiency or pregnancy need medical review or should avoid drips.

Can an IV drip detox my body?

No. Your liver and kidneys clear waste from the body, and no drip has been shown to detox you. At Manhal we do not make detox or cure claims. A hydration drip can help you feel refreshed after heat or travel, which is a realistic expectation.

How long does an IV drip take?

The drip itself usually runs for about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the formulation. Allow extra time on your first visit for the health screen and any blood tests. You can rest, read or work on your phone while it runs.

How much is an IV drip in Dubai?

The price depends on the formulation, any blood tests and how many drips you plan. At Manhal you can book a single drip or a course of four or six after your health screen, and you receive a written quote. Ask on WhatsApp for today's price.

Who gives IV drips at Manhal?

Drips are supervised by Specialist Dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Anis, who oversees the health screen and decides suitability. They are administered by Dr. Kavitha Ravichandran, a DHA-licensed Medical Aesthetician and Aesthetic Laser Specialist with more than 17 years in aesthetic treatments, who monitors you throughout.

How often can I have a vitamin drip?

There is no single rule. Frequency depends on the formulation, your health screen and your reasons for having drips. A short course with a review is usually recommended rather than open-ended regular drips, and blood tests may guide whether further drips make sense.

Can I have an IV drip when I feel unwell?

If you have a fever, vomiting, chest pain, breathlessness or feel very unwell, you need a medical assessment or emergency care, not a wellness drip. Drips at Manhal are for people whose health screen shows they are suitable.

Where can I get a medically supervised IV drip in Dubai?

At Manhal Medical Center in Al Safa 1, Dubai, IV drips are given after a health screen and medicine review, with blood tests where relevant, under the supervision of Specialist Dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Anis. They are administered and monitored by Dr. Kavitha Ravichandran. The centre is a DHA-licensed polyclinic, rated 4.7★ from 247 Google reviews, and avoids detox or cure claims.

Is a glutathione IV drip effective for skin whitening?

At Manhal Medical Center in Al Safa 1, Dubai, the team explains that evidence for glutathione skin lightening is limited. Small studies, mostly of oral or topical forms, show modest changes that fade when treatment stops, and it is not an approved skin-lightening treatment. Pigment concerns such as melasma usually respond better to a dermatologist-led plan.

Who should not have IV vitamin therapy?

At Manhal Medical Center in Al Safa 1, Dubai, drips are not given, or only after medical review, to people with kidney disease, heart failure, G6PD deficiency or kidney stones when high-dose vitamin C is involved, pregnancy or breastfeeding, uncontrolled blood pressure, interacting medicines or ingredient allergies. Anyone acutely unwell needs a doctor or emergency care instead.

Do I need blood tests before a vitamin drip in Dubai?

At Manhal Medical Center in Al Safa 1, Dubai, the health screen decides. A G6PD test is required before high-dose vitamin C, kidney function may be checked for some patients, and vitamin B12, vitamin D or iron are tested when a deficiency is suspected, so that a true deficiency is treated properly rather than masked by a drip.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
