Questions From Patients Abroad: Treatment in Dubai

International patients tend to ask the same practical questions before deciding. This page gathers the most common ones about Manhal Medical Center in Dubai, with honest answers.

Questions From Patients Abroad: Treatment in Dubai

Before you decide

Most patients want to know whether their goal is achievable, how long it will take and how many trips are needed. The quickest way to find out is to send photographs, any X-rays and a description of your concerns by email or WhatsApp to +971 52 987 2411. A dentist reviews them and replies with a provisional view. You are not committed to anything at this stage, and the provisional plan may change after the in-person examination in Dubai.

Regulation and qualifications

Healthcare in Dubai is regulated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), which licenses clinics and clinicians. The team at Manhal Medical Center includes founder Dr. Manhal Helfawee, a general dentist focused on implants, full-arch and cosmetic restorative dentistry with more than 20 years in the UAE; Consultant Orthodontist Dr. Moaiyad Pacha; Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Moataz Al-Khan; general dentist Dr. Fariba Alnoory; and Specialist Dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Anis.

Money matters

Fees are not published online because they depend on the examination and the final plan. Once your records have been reviewed, ask the clinic about likely costs and accepted payment methods. Most national health systems and private insurers do not cover elective treatment abroad, though some reimburse part of certain procedures; check with your provider and ask the clinic for itemised invoices. Remember to budget for flights, accommodation and the possibility of a few extra days.

Communication and records

The clinic communicates in English and Arabic, by email, WhatsApp and phone on +971 4 328 4560. Dubai uses Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4) all year, which is three to four hours ahead of the UK, two to three ahead of Central Europe and eight to twelve ahead of the continental US. You receive a written treatment summary and copies of X-rays and scans when you leave, and records are shared with your home dentist only with your consent.

Travel and logistics

The clinic does not arrange visas, flights, hotels or airport transfers, so check entry requirements through official sources. Manhal Medical Center is in central Dubai, between Al Wasl Road and Sheikh Zayed Road, and most visitors use taxis or ride-hailing apps to get there. October to April is the most comfortable season, while summers are very hot. Clinic hours can change during Ramadan, Eid and public holidays, so confirm appointment times if you are travelling then.

If something goes wrong

Problems can occur after any treatment, at home or abroad. Before treatment, ask how follow-up will work and what would happen if a restoration needs attention later. After you return, contact the clinic with photographs for advice, and seek local care first for anything urgent, such as spreading swelling, fever or difficulty breathing. Keep your records easily accessible, because they allow any dentist, anywhere, to understand your treatment and help you quickly.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
