Flying After Dental Treatment in Dubai
Most dental treatment does not stop you from flying, but surgery, sinus procedures and long-haul journeys need some planning. This page explains the general timings used at Manhal Medical Center; your own clinician's advice always takes priority.

Why flying can matter after treatment
Cabin pressure changes during take-off and landing can affect air trapped in spaces such as the sinuses or beneath a recent filling. Long flights also mean dehydration, limited movement and distance from your treating dentist if something needs attention. For most cosmetic and routine work this is not a problem. After surgery, especially near the sinuses, it can be. That is why the clinic plans your appointments around your departure date, rather than fitting your flight around the treatment afterwards.
Veneers, crowns, fillings and whitening
Non-surgical treatment generally does not restrict flying. You can usually fly the same day or the next day after veneers, crowns, fillings, cleaning or whitening. The clinic still recommends a short review after veneers or crowns, typically a few days after fitting, to check the bite and gums before a long flight. If you notice tooth pain when the cabin pressure changes, mention it at your next dental visit, as it can occasionally point to a problem with a filling.
Extractions and implant placement
After routine extractions or implant placement, most patients can fly after a few days, once bleeding has settled and they have been reviewed. Swelling often peaks on the second or third day, so a flight the day after surgery is uncomfortable and should be avoided where possible. Take painkillers as prescribed before the flight, carry gauze in your hand luggage, and avoid alcohol. Dr. Moataz Al-Khan or your treating dentist will confirm the timing for your case.
Sinus lifts and upper back teeth
The roots of the upper back teeth sit close to the maxillary sinus. After a sinus lift, or after an extraction that creates an opening into the sinus, pressure changes and nose-blowing can disturb healing. Surgeons commonly advise waiting longer before flying in these cases, sometimes one to two weeks, and you may be prescribed decongestants or antibiotics. Do not blow your nose forcefully, and sneeze with your mouth open. Build this into your trip before booking the return flight.
Long-haul flights after surgery
For flights of seven to sixteen hours, think about comfort and circulation as well as your mouth. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, walk the aisle regularly and do leg exercises in your seat. Carry medicines, aftercare instructions and soft snacks in your hand luggage. If you have risk factors for blood clots, ask your doctor about compression stockings. Sudden leg swelling, chest pain or breathlessness after a flight need urgent medical attention, wherever you are.
Botox, fillers and dermatology procedures
Many people fly after botulinum toxin or filler treatment without problems, although swelling can increase slightly during a flight and the clinic prefers to review fillers before you leave. Allow time for a review with Specialist Dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Anis where possible. After laser or resurfacing procedures, protect your skin from strong sun at your destination. Know the warning signs after filler, such as skin colour change, severe pain or visual disturbance, and seek urgent care if they occur.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.this was my first visit to Dr Manhal after recomendation from my husband, i needed his consultation after i visited more than one doctor in Lebanon with no luck, i am glad i visited him, he is very professional the clinic is very clean with great staffAmazing service and very friendly team I'm very happy with my dental implant results with Dr.Manhal ❤️
