Aftercare in the UK After Treatment in Dubai

Most treatment lasts far longer than the trip itself, so aftercare at home is part of the plan from the start. Here is how follow-up works for UK patients after treatment at Manhal Medical Center in Dubai.

Aftercare in the UK After Treatment in Dubai

The records you bring home

Before you leave Dubai you receive written aftercare instructions, a treatment summary and copies of relevant X-rays, scans and photographs. For implants this includes the implant system, sizes and component details; for veneers and crowns, the materials and shades; for orthodontics, the retainer plan. Keep digital copies in your email and a printed copy with your travel documents. These records let any UK dentist understand what was done without guesswork, which matters if you move house or change practice.

Your first weeks back

Follow the written instructions on diet, cleaning and medicines. Mild swelling, sensitivity or tenderness after surgery or new restorations is common for a few days. If something is unclear, send a message and photographs to Manhal Medical Center by WhatsApp at +971 52 987 2411 or by email. Remember the time difference: Dubai is three or four hours ahead, so a morning message from the UK arrives during clinic hours, while a late-evening message may be answered the next day.

Working with your UK dentist

Book a routine check-up with your UK dentist a few weeks after returning, and take your treatment summary. They can examine your gums, clean around restorations and implants, and take X-rays to monitor healing. Some UK dentists are cautious about work done abroad, and clear records make that conversation much easier. With your written consent, the clinic can share information directly with your dentist. NHS dentistry covers clinically necessary care, while cosmetic adjustments would usually be private.

When to seek urgent local care

Some symptoms should not wait for a reply from Dubai. Spreading facial swelling, fever, difficulty swallowing or breathing, bleeding that does not stop with firm pressure, or numbness that is getting worse need prompt local care: call NHS 111, contact an emergency dentist, or go to A&E for severe symptoms. After dermal fillers, skin colour change or any visual disturbance is an emergency. Let the clinic know afterwards so your records stay complete and the team can advise on next steps.

Long-term maintenance

Implants, veneers and crowns all depend on healthy gums. Regular hygiene visits, careful cleaning between the teeth and a night guard if you grind help protect the work for years. Retainers after orthodontics must be worn as instructed, often at night indefinitely. If an implant crown loosens or a veneer chips, contact the clinic with photographs; some issues can be handled by a UK dentist using your records, while others may be better addressed during a return visit to Dubai.

Returning to Dubai for reviews

Some patients come back for planned reviews, the second stage of implant treatment, orthodontic checks with Dr. Moaiyad Pacha, or follow-up with Specialist Dermatologist Dr. Abdullah Anis. Combining a review with a winter break is common. Tell the clinic your dates early so appointments can be arranged around them. If you are under Dr. Pacha's care, ask whether a review could take place in London instead, where his schedule allows, as he divides his clinical time between the two cities.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
