For the face, a typical course is three to five sessions two to four weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. For hair, sessions are often every one to two weeks at first and then spread out, with results judged at three to six months. Your plan depends on your skin, your hair loss and your response.

Mesotherapy can support the scalp as part of a hair-loss plan, particularly when formulations include medicines that act on follicles. The evidence is more limited and varied than for PRP or medical treatment, partly because formulations differ so much. Dr. Abdullah Anis recommends it only when it suits your diagnosis, and often alongside PRP or minoxidil.

They do different jobs. PRP uses your own platelets and has more published evidence for pattern hair loss and for skin texture. Mesotherapy uses a chosen formulation, needs no blood draw and is good for hydration and glow. Many patients combine them, and the consultation will tell you which matters more for your goal.

Facial formulations commonly contain hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. Hair formulations may include biotin and other vitamins, amino acids, minerals and, in some protocols, medicines that act on hair follicles. Numbing cream is applied for about 20 to 30 minutes before treatment, so most people feel quick pricks rather than pain. The scalp and lips are more sensitive than the cheeks. Any tenderness usually settles within a day.

Very little. Small bumps and redness usually fade within hours to a day, and pinpoint bruises within a few days. Avoid make-up for around 24 hours, and skip saunas, swimming, strong sun and intense exercise for a day. Most people go back to work straight away.

On the face, many people notice glow within days, and texture improves over the course. On the scalp, results are slower because hair grows slowly; reduced shedding and improved density are judged with photos after three to six months.
