Best implant dentist in Dubai: how to choose who places your implants

Many people search for the best implant dentist near me after losing a tooth or being told a tooth cannot be saved. Implants are a long-term investment placed in bone, so the planning and the team behind them matter more than the advertised price per implant.

Best implant dentist in Dubai: how to choose who places your implants — Manhal Medical Center, Dubai
Quick answer

The best implant dentist in Dubai for you has advanced implant training, plans every case from a CBCT 3D scan, uses an established implant system and has surgical backup for bone grafting or complications. At Manhal Medical Center in Dubai, consultant implantologist Dr. Manhal Helfawee works with oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Moataz Al-Khan on implant cases.

Key facts

  • Look for postgraduate implant training and long experience
  • CBCT 3D scan before implant surgery
  • Ask for the implant system and a record card
  • Surgeon on the team for grafting and complications
  • Dr. Manhal Helfawee: consultant implantologist, 20+ years in the UAE

Training and experience in implant dentistry

Implant dentistry combines surgery, which places the implant in the jawbone, with restorative dentistry, which designs the crown, bridge or denture on top. Look for a dentist with formal postgraduate training in implantology and long, regular experience placing and restoring implants. Ask how many years the dentist has worked with implants, which types of cases they treat routinely, such as single teeth, multiple teeth or full arches, and what they refer on. The DHA licence, which you can check on Sheryan, confirms the dentist's category. A consultant-level implantologist with many years of practice in the UAE will have managed a wide range of bone conditions and patient needs.

CBCT 3D scan and digital planning

A standard X-ray shows bone height but not width, density or the exact position of nerves and sinuses. CBCT 3D imaging shows all of these, allowing the dentist to choose implant size, angle and position before surgery and to decide in advance whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed. Digital intraoral scans record the teeth and bite so the final crown can be planned at the same time. This approach, often called prosthetically driven planning, places the implant where the future tooth needs it rather than where bone happens to be. Ask whether a CBCT scan is part of your assessment and to see the plan on screen.

Implant system and components

Implants are made by many manufacturers. Established systems have long clinical research histories, wide availability of components and support for future repairs, which matters because you may need a replacement screw or crown years later, perhaps in another country. Ask which implant system will be used, whether its components are widely available and whether you will receive a record card with the implant type and size. Be cautious of unusually low prices that may reflect unknown components. The crown material, usually zirconia or porcelain fused to metal, and whether it is screw-retained or cemented, should also be explained in your written plan.

Surgical backup for grafting and complications

Not every jaw has enough bone for an implant. Bone grafting, sinus lifts, extraction of difficult teeth and management of complications like infection or nerve irritation may be needed. An implant team that includes an oral and maxillofacial surgeon can handle these situations in the same clinic, with shared planning and fewer referrals. Ask who would manage a graft, what happens if an implant does not integrate and how follow-up is organised. Also ask about anaesthesia: most implant surgery is done under local anaesthesia, and any sedation should be confirmed in advance. A clear plan for the unexpected is a sign of a careful implant practice.

Dr. Manhal Helfawee and Dr. Moataz Al-Khan

At Manhal Medical Center in Dubai, implant treatment is led by Dr. Manhal Helfawee, Founder, Medical Director and Consultant Implantologist (DHA licence 00169366-001). He has more than 20 years of experience in the UAE, a BDS from the University of Aleppo and an advanced diploma in implant dentistry from European University College, and focuses on implants, All-on-4 and All-on-6, full-mouth rehabilitation, crowns and veneers. He works with Dr. Moataz Al-Khan, Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (DHA licence 00048618-005) and lecturer in oral surgery, who performs surgical extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts and implant surgery. Planning uses CBCT and digital scanning, treatment is under local anaesthesia and you receive a written itemised plan.

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a biocompatible titanium post that bonds with the jawbone. Once integrated, it supports a crown that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth, and it helps prevent the bone loss that follows an extraction.

How long does the implant process take?

It often takes a few months from placement to the final crown, longer if bone grafting is needed. Your plan gives an estimated timeline.

Is implant surgery painful?

It is done under local anaesthesia, so most people feel pressure rather than pain. Discomfort afterwards is usually managed with simple pain relief.

Can I get an implant if I have little bone?

Often yes, with bone grafting or a sinus lift, decided from the CBCT scan.

How long do dental implants last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last many years. Smoking and gum disease increase the risk of problems.

When should I call after implant surgery?

Call the clinic for bleeding that will not stop with pressure, increasing swelling after three days, fever, pus, or numbness that does not wear off.

Like many people, I don't enjoy the dentist. For many years I avoided visits out of fear. I found Manhal 15 years ago, and he is a wonderful dentist. Calming presence. Excellent implantology as well as other dental work. I have recommended him personally to many friends, and will continue to do so. I just hope he doesn't ever retire. When I have been overseas with dental problems, I have flown back to Dubai specifically to see him. Could not imagine ever going to another dentist.
