Failed or loose dental implant? Treatment options in Dubai
Implant problems are not always the end of the implant. Caught early, inflammation around an implant can often be controlled; left untreated it can lead to bone loss and implant loss.

A loose, painful or bleeding implant needs prompt assessment. Treatment ranges from deep cleaning around the implant to surgical repair, or removing the implant and replacing it after healing. Manhal Medical Center assesses implants placed at other clinics too.
Key facts
- Early assessment saves more implants
- Implants from other clinics assessed
- Crown, screw and bone all checked
- Re-implantation possible after healing
Common causes
Peri-implantitis (gum and bone inflammation), overload from grinding, a loose screw or crown, poor initial planning, smoking and uncontrolled diabetes.
How we assess it
Examination of gums and bite, X-rays or 3D imaging, and checking the crown and screw. If possible, bring the implant system details from your previous clinic.
Treatment options
Cleaning and disinfection, surgical treatment with grafting when suitable, replacing a loose crown or screw, or removal and later re-implantation.
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a biocompatible titanium post that bonds with the jawbone. Once integrated, it supports a crown that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth, and it helps prevent the bone loss that follows an extraction.

Is a loose implant crown the same as a failed implant?
No. A loose crown or screw can often be fixed; a loose implant in the bone is more serious.
Can a failed implant be replaced?
Often yes, after the site heals and any bone loss is managed.
Why is my implant bleeding?
Bleeding around an implant is a sign of inflammation and should be checked.
Do I need my old implant records?
They help identify parts; if unavailable, imaging still guides treatment.
