Two ways to replace one tooth
A bridge anchors a false tooth to the teeth on either side, which need to be reshaped for crowns. An implant replaces the root itself and supports a crown independently.
What happens to the bone
After an extraction the jawbone gradually shrinks. An implant loads the bone like a natural root and helps preserve it; a bridge does not.
Time and cost
A bridge can be completed in a couple of weeks. Implants need a healing period of a few months, but they don't involve the neighbouring teeth.
Which is right for you
If the adjacent teeth already need crowns, a bridge may make sense. If they are healthy, an implant usually preserves more of your natural teeth. A 3D scan and examination give a definite answer.
This page is general information and does not replace a consultation. Suitability, risks and results vary between patients.
