Veneers are laboratory-made porcelain shells. Bonding is resin sculpted directly on the tooth in one visit.
Durability and staining
Porcelain holds its colour and polish for many years. Composite can stain and chip sooner but is easy to repair.
Tooth preparation
Bonding usually needs little or no preparation. Veneers need minimal, planned adjustment of the enamel.
A practical rule
For small chips and gaps, bonding is often ideal. For a full change in colour and shape across the smile, porcelain veneers give the more lasting result.
